Age of Iron is a collaborative dark low fantasy LARP focused on dramatic narrative featuring mystery, adventure, feudal politics and the horrors of human conflict.
Welcome to the webpage for a unique and new LARP game called “Age of Iron.” In an attempt to create an innovative theater experience, Age of Iron takes inspiration from experimental LARPs in Europe and blends it with high quality game experience. With a gritty low fantasy setting designed from the ground up, Age of Iron’s atmosphere will incorporate much more human elements and stories, but with the supernatural lurking just beyond what is seen and known. Madness, betrayal, hope and triumph will all factor into the weaving stories that create the story that all players share in together. When you play Age of Iron you are encouraged to be more than passive participants: you are the creators of the story and drive its focus.
What is LARP?
If you came here and you either don’t know what a LARP is or are only freshly introduced then you should know that a LARP is a “Live Action Role Playing” game. In a LARP you take on the role of a character in a play that is largely unwritten. There might be a plot or story happening, but your character will have motivations, goals and a personality that guides how they interact with that story. As each player is a participant in the same way the stories can be unpredictable and go in very interesting directions. There are many different kinds of LARPs, ranging from theater LARPs with a focus on social interaction and cerebral engagements to more combat oriented “boffer” LARPs. Age of Iron exists in a space between those two examples. It provides space for those who would like to be physical as well as those who would like to be more social.
What should I look at next?
All of the basic information you will need is listed on this website in the various tabs. You should start first by familiarizing yourself with the setting. The setting will give you an indication of what we mean by “low fantasy” and where we take our inspirations for this game. After that you should look at the game play tab and see some of the basic information about how the game is played. Then you should look at the events tab to see when the next game will be.
